Erica Nlewedim's Hire a Woman

Following Erica Nlewedim feature in Punch and Vanguard as beautiful Actress / Entertainer to watch out for in 2021, the more reason you are watching Hire a Woman if you haven't seen it before now. The movie was released in 2019, way before she entered the BBN reality TV show. This 2021, we expect more lead roles from the beauty queen. In Hire a woman, her acting was dulled by the famous and more experienced actors on the set, the likes of Nancy Isime, Uche Nwaefuna and Alexx Ekubo. The storyline is the right amount of comedy, drama and destination getaway - Whispering Palms. I choose to highlight this because I'm tourism inclined.  A nerd is invited to friends reunion and his colleagues at work plan the perfect retaliation for the mysterious Ex who has the brilliant handsome man figetting. A typical Nolloyhood movie, Nancy Isime was to find love with Uzor Arukwe, seeing she's the hired woman. Erica Nlewedim is best friend to the Ex and has a secret crush on the Nerd.  It...

Wonder Woman, the moral lessons from 1984

I don't know what lane you are on but you are not on the right lane, if you have not read me write about woman power, what is now term feminism. A whole stadium of women gymnast, this movie won me over from the start. Contrary to the the opening scenes, this movie is not set in the medieval times, when you see WW84, then you just started movie proper. Understand this, movie storylines the presence of superhumans in the 1980s, I hear WW84 inspiration was drawn from Wonder Woman creator William Moulton Marston in his 1940s stories and George Pérez's 1980s stories about Wonder Woman. It's also nice to set the 2020 comeback at that time. Like I say,  stories set back in time come out nicer because no one goes through the trouble to compromise on good content. The good content is, "No true hero is born from lies, we don't become legend out of haste." When Diana took the short path, we were just too happy she was going to win anyways, some might even call her smart...

These are the qualities we see in Mulan

This was one of my best dialogue in Mulan. These are the qualities we see in a good wife These are the qualities we see in Mulan When a wife serves her husband, she must be silent, she must be invisible she must be...  Is something wrong. No madam matchmaker, thank you. It's ideal for the tea pot should remain in the center of the table. But I think the teapot should remain the place it is.  Move the teapot girl! And the action began. Though this is a superwoman movie, the whole 20yards of feminism material was first animated in 1998 based on the Chinese folklore, "The Ballad of Mulan". The live-action adaptation cannot be more relevant in the 2020. I like that the lead character Hua choose to use her CHI in the good way. The antagonist Xian Lang played by Gong Li is your typical 'hell has no fury like a woman scorned' feminist. Anything goes so long the woman is taken seriously. No moral codes, our struggles of self esteems. Hua Mulan, a female replaces her fathe...

They find the tiny pretty things you love

The best season film for 2020. There is something wrong with that place. They find the tiny pretty things you love and tear their wings off. The back stage drama of Ballet as an artform. The movie was premiered on Netflix on December 14, 2020. And Season 2, we cannot wait till 2022. I heard online the time to whip out a whole new season plus the professional choreography... If you enjoyed High School Musical and Step up, this is your movie. No music though, this is Ballet alongside crime mystery, It's definitely a step up from your usual High school drama series. Please who killed Ramon Costa, June's Dad and that's if he died. Chicago's medical teams must be something if like the flying girl, our hot dance instructor survives this. I'm loving the season 2 synopsis already. And June is arguably the tiny prettiest thing on that set. Girl, she fine I hope to see more of her new fire, with the dead resurrected. Ballet is definitely not for weaklings if you wanna be that...

Tommy Egan comeback in Power book II - Ghost

Is there even capital lettered power with no Ghost. Rainey Jr gonna be wowing us else. I like the new angle to the movie tho. Ghost character has been over flogged - nothing interesting since Seasons 4.  Here is the new story line, his father dead and his mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), facing charges for the murder her son committed. Not to mention the academic rigors of the Ivy League university Tariq is attending, we had a glimpse of that part in the Season 5. I can work with a high school mid life crisis and still the drug business hustling to pay for the defense lawyer who is Tasha’s only hope of getting out of jail.  Gonna be likeable as Tariq tries to balance his drug operation with his grades, love life, and family, he figures out that the only way to avoid the same fate his father met is to become him — only better. Now on better, am just too worried for Tariq. All those adults content that Power is notorious for, who's gonna be stepping up in that aspect with ninete...

Nneka The Pretty Serpent, part two?

Viewers Digression: Paranormal movie. I do not know what I was thinking buying a ticket to see movie, normally I don't do paranormal. Paranormal are movies on metaphysics, metaphysics= spirits and magic. As a good Christian girl, I'm sorry it doesn't seat well with me. So from title, snake girl is a giveaway, seeing Nneka, red flag but the hype on social media was tempting. First the movie flier I saw had a village setting or was that my imagination, ooh now I know, the 30years ago backtrack. I'm a sucker for movies set in the 90s and backwards. There is something original about those movies, that a playwright can recreate those scene, actually wins for effort. No one spends that much on costume and stage to release rubbish. On rubbish, Nneka storyline just suck. If there is a parts 2, No am not watching! The movie started with lot of promise, but in between the serial killing, the writer lost it. For acting, all crew were perfect to the T. Especially Ada played by Bimb...

The Big reflection

When  we're at a bad place, we tend to say some really weird stuff. Last year, we woke to the trending story of a Gospel Guitarist  #jonathansteingard  denouncing God. I myself wrote this beautiful piece/stupid words at my low place. I cannot denounce God right, He always comes true. Fast forward to less than a year, today I am not depressed or excited to say 'I do not believe in God.' Hallelujah. Poem Syntax Line 1 It's very easy to pick at what went wrong, nobody takes note when something, a situation is just right. Line 2 Depression and bad things are same sides of a coin. No matter how hard we try to feel unaffected in the event of sour occurrences, sooner or later depression sets it. Lines 3 and 4 God, the universe, whatever we believe, there is a supreme being that dictates who we are. We will reverence this being according to His dealing with us. Lines 5 and 6 We believe this supreme being is almighty and unquestionable. Line 7 No one has that much luck, most pra...

You might not still believe

I Still Believe A true story adapted for movie If you are a sucker for the musical and Guitar, this is your movie. The story line not bad either. A memoir actually of a college guy who marries his sick lover. The story is wrapped around religion too. Like if you're or have any loved one with terminal illness. Woow, so what drawed me to this movie sef? It's Chadwick Boseman with the Colon cancer trending earlier last year. Mehn some illnesses are just to the death. No friggin cure/miracle. We could only make them comfortable and let their lives count. This life no just balance.  I so much love the musical, that covers for the mushy mushy feeling of loss and the inevitable. However it makes believe in God in the presence of loss understandable. Many Atheist denounced God for, "If there truly is a loving God, why do our loved ones suffer or even die young?" I hope this movie can make someone like this understand too. This is not a movie summary,   I don't appreciate...

OMO GHETTO: The Saga, their ten years after

Comedy + Action. So when I heard the continuing part of Omo Ghetto was being released and OMG the preview. Mehn Lefty character is not getting younger. Like how do you keep up being razz as an aging female Mostly a typical ghetto babe would have born one at the least... My prejudice until I saw movie at Genesis Cinemas. First, we laughed all through, the sassy conversation is top notch, the slangs and subtitle did just the right justice. No one is left in the wind, igbo yourba and surprisingly hausa. To know we have a Hausa thug in the ghetto. In short, just saying an Ibo boy is an "omo onile" in Lagos, much more a Hausa. It's relatable though, the ghetto hood is home to all residents. Meanwhile, Mercy Aigbe representing Benin Runs girl, just to know she is Benin and speaking the language, It's different experience. Second is action. Nollyhood is upping their game plan for the 2021. Sound effects that matches the actual action and no silly sound track to suspense a ...
