Is there even capital lettered power with no Ghost. Rainey Jr gonna be wowing us else. I like the new angle to the movie tho. Ghost character has been over flogged - nothing interesting since Seasons 4.
Here is the new story line, his father dead and his mother, Tasha (Naturi Naughton), facing charges for the murder her son committed. Not to mention the academic rigors of the Ivy League university Tariq is attending, we had a glimpse of that part in the Season 5. I can work with a high school mid life crisis and still the drug business hustling to pay for the defense lawyer who is Tasha’s only hope of getting out of jail.
Gonna be likeable as Tariq tries to balance his drug operation with his grades, love life, and family, he figures out that the only way to avoid the same fate his father met is to become him — only better. Now on better, am just too worried for Tariq. All those adults content that Power is notorious for, who's gonna be stepping up in that aspect with nineteen years old Rainey Jr the key actor.
This world don kwarrupt, no be today. SEPTEMBER 6 comeback, first episode, nudes everywhere else he's un-sold out.
Fast track to the end of season 1, the ride was fast and high. We were high on cheap drug because somehow somehow our eyes' cleared so fast the comeback of Tommy Egan was supposed to make everything better for the next season, but not for me. I am tired of the Power story, book or no book.
Basically, if Tommy is back, the writers will be resurrecting Ghost too. And ghost story like I said is over flogged.
To those still high on Power, here is the correct highlights on Power book II - Ghost.
The season started at the back of Ghost's death and ends with another death of a character, Tariq's course professor. Yes you guessed right, both were murdered by Tariq, the best choice of word here will be gunned down, because we are in denial that Jamie (in Angela's voice) Saint Patrick is actually dead. The whole season was a court hearing on pinning the killer on Ghost's wife, she in turn is protecting the actual killer and the killer as seen in the last episode has just spin off trial as non and void. The murder will remain unsolved while Tacha focuses on snitching on Tommy for her to be vindicated. American justice system, isn't it wonderful, your lawyer just need to play by the books and you walk free, not forgetting this comes at the right price.
A lot of money. From drugs, the new drug lord or in this case drug lady is trying to push her products the cleanest way with more profits which Tariq has mapped out, the course correct. Somehow, Tariq's now dead professor was able to put two and two together to get twenty two because he thinks this is a way out on his writer's block and him coughing out a best selling biography at the back of Tariq.
Thing is Tariq was always underestimated but he is just as calculating as his father, maybe better. Ghost was crippled by his love for a woman, Tariq however is loving none. He can think critically and concisely, which makes him deadlier. He has three fair women in his life and all three were managed and serve their purpose, head in the right place, clear mother's name, run the drug business while fulfilling his father's wish for a formal education.
On other stories, we now have our gay couple. Somehow by 2020, all successful movies have the LGBT characters. Power cannot be different. The adult content was just fine too. And Tariq's nineteen-ish old ass was spared from the heat. Almost!
PS: In pink ink was written before the beginning of season 1.
This is not a movie summary,
I don't appreciate spoiler alerts myself. And I am not your typical movie critic because this review is according to my movie taste slash preferences and just enough hype to advise your next movie. I am not a preacher of spoiler alert
, thank you.
