OMO GHETTO: The Saga, their ten years after

 Comedy + Action.


So when I heard the continuing part of Omo Ghetto was being released and OMG the preview. Mehn Lefty character is not getting younger. Like how do you keep up being razz as an aging female Mostly a typical ghetto babe would have born one at the least... My prejudice until I saw movie at Genesis Cinemas.

First, we laughed all through, the sassy conversation is top notch, the slangs and subtitle did just the right justice. No one is left in the wind, igbo yourba and surprisingly hausa. To know we have a Hausa thug in the ghetto. In short, just saying an Ibo boy is an "omo onile" in Lagos, much more a Hausa. It's relatable though, the ghetto hood is home to all residents. Meanwhile, Mercy Aigbe representing Benin Runs girl, just to know she is Benin and speaking the language, It's different experience.


Second is action. Nollyhood is upping their game plan for the 2021. Sound effects that matches the actual action and no silly sound track to suspense a 'film trick', The action was believable abeg, Chioma A. I never expected her to be that much of a crazy person but my candid advise, I think the hair costume was rather too over the top. At least to compensate, they didn't have foul makeups on in 2021. Well no where in Nigeria Ghetto do they wear those hideous wigs. Lefty's hair costume is relatable, thank you.



On Chioma, she brought her A game, carrying every Ibo speaker along in a typical dominant Yoruba movie. And the wire wire runz boys, the kidnappers, this is the storyline for 2021. The screenwright had the audience in mind. A junkie hooked on drugs and frigging acting the part to  details, priceless.

So they had a birthday party and I expected party to be a full highlighted affair, cliché right. Funny enough they spared us the gruely details. Food was spiked, fast forward no silly celebrant appreciation and all those time wasting routine. In short Party scattered!

In Bollyhood movies, we have intermissions rights, Omo Ghetto's intermission was after the weird party. The real drama started unfolding here, a manslaughter, lefty arrested, the Rose and Jack Mumu Always Giving Away, the police and runz boys parole, the hired suspect off me too and the irony of police and thieves. Oya go to court now, just saying, no thief goes to court, you dey whine me ni this is Nigeria. No justice for a criminal, where is the justice for any complainant sef first.  All victims should have their day at court though.

When Busty left her gun and dosed off in the war zone, we all at the theater, expected that some mishap would befall her, some were like, na only her go die. Funny enough, if you thought you could predict Nollywood, this screenwright outsmarted us. With all the bleeding and extreme action, no one lost their life so easily too, as in we dey watch foreign movies, ordinary blow no dey kee person!

Finally movie is relatable, that is why you would laugh so hard and follow the story.


This is not a movie summary, angry I don't appreciate spoiler alerts myself. And I am not your typical movie critic because this review is according to my movie taste slash preferences and just enough hype to advise your next movie. I am not a preacher of spoiler alert lipsrsealed, thank you.

Nneka The Pretty Serpent, part two?

Viewers Digression: Paranormal movie. I do not know what I was thinking buying a ticket to see movie, normally I don't do paranormal. Paranormal are movies on metaphysics, metaphysics= spirits and magic. As a good Christian girl, I'm sorry it doesn't seat well with me. So from title, snake girl is a giveaway, seeing Nneka, red flag but the hype on social media was tempting. First the movie flier I saw had a village setting or was that my imagination, ooh now I know, the 30years ago backtrack. I'm a sucker for movies set in the 90s and backwards. There is something original about those movies, that a playwright can recreate those scene, actually wins for effort. No one spends that much on costume and stage to release rubbish. On rubbish, Nneka storyline just suck. If there is a parts 2, No am not watching! The movie started with lot of promise, but in between the serial killing, the writer lost it. What we once believed Chapter Three

Sister Dorcas is another such vibrant sister in the fellowship. She is my level mate and I guess she did pre-degree like me but I don’t notice her until when we were freshers. And trust me; I was always sitting on the noticing pew, the back benchers. You get to see who comes and go, who has the hottest heels or who is wearing the oxygen trousers. For those who don’t  know what the oxygen trousers is, well Fashion Police 101, those over-zealous brothers who wear oversize everything; trousers, oversize, shirt or coat, oversize even the shoes, it has to be ancient in design. Obviously, the wide trousers let in air and the overall effect makes them look like astronauts in space suit. Well, astronauts need oxygen in space. Even when Tiwa, my friend and I started noticing Dorcas, she is snobbish and does not hang around after service.
